This past August Moshe Weidenfeld, the coordinator of the
the Park Slope Israel Action Committee of Congregation B'nai Jacob raised
money on behalf of the children of the Knan Merkaz Klita (Absorption Center)
in Tzefat, Israel. Arriving in Israel, Moshe and his son Ezra traveled to
the north as soon as the so-called cease-fire went into effect. The Ethiopian
(Falasha Mura) children who they met living at the Merkaz in Tzefat were joyful
and full of life despite having literally left 'the pot (of persecution by
the Ethiopian government and warlords) into the fire (of Katyusha rockets
from Hizbolleh). The Weidenfeld's efforts provided these children who literally
were wearing all the clothes they owned with a new shirt, backpack to start
the school year, art supplies and sports equipment. Click on the thumb nails

A Big Thank You to all those who donated!
We are hoping to maintain a relationship with the children
and their families through the Merkaz as these new immigrants branch out into
Israel society. Please stay-tuned for further information. |
